When working on a wedding, I spend lots of my energy trying to get my clients the best possible images that I am able to produce on their wedding day.
This begins with a consultation or perhaps several, which then moves on to researching the venue, and then coming up with a shooting plan for the day. Extra equipment may be selected, depending on the wedding and weather. You and your guests will see me working away in the background throughout the day (hopefully I'll not be too noticeable, as I aim to inconspicuous where possible).
But, what you don't often get to see or here about is what goes on behind the scenes for the following weeks to come.
I've taken the shots using professional equipment, and creative lighting techniques. I've photographed everything manually so that the shots are as I'd like them to be (I never ever shoot on auto, I won't get the pictures I'm after this way). But now I have to turn the images into something I'm pleased with into something a little more flawless!
For example I may choose to:
- Remove the odd exit sign
- Take out a light switch (they are not important to the story telling of the day)
- Tone down any skin blemishes if you wish
- Remove a stray eyelash or hair
- Remove a fallen down bra strap
- Take out an object which couldn't be moved where I needed to take the shot, you may want to look at the first image to see an example of this
- Perhaps someone's handbag may have been placed into the isle halfway through the ceremony, yet interrupting the vows to move this would have been inappropriate. I would look to edit this out
- Sort out the colour balance, so that the tones within the image work well together (perhaps the did not in real life)
These are just a few things that I may assess when it comes to producing your final images. The aim is to produce something beautiful which you will enjoy looking over in years to come, and be proud to place on your wall.
